Amir Samii

Prof. Dr. med. Amir Samii was born on July 1st, 1970 in Mainz, Germany.
He has graduated from Hannover Medical School and received his neurosurgical and neuroscience training at Charité University in Berlin, University of California Los Angeles and at Nordstadt Hospital Hannover. He did his fellowship in skull base surgery with Prof. Madjid Samii.

Presently he is Vice-President and Deputy Medical Director of the International Neuroscience Institute-Hannover, Head of the “Intraoperative Mapping and Visualization of the Human Brain” Program of the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology-Magdeburg and Professor of Neurosurgery at Hannover Medical School.   

Prof. Amir Samii has over 150 publications and has editorial functions in numerous journals. He is a fellow of the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology and received the honorary membership from several international neurosurgical societies and is honorary professor of the Burdenko Institutue in Moscow.

He has worked on the surgical integration and scientific evaluation of neuronavigation and intraoperative visualization for more than 20 years. Furthermore, he is specialized in skull base surgery and in neuro-oncological surgery. He is also known for his work in the field of hearing restoration with neurobionic implants.
